We have reported on this issue before but it appears that things are getting worse rather than better.  The growing hostility of the U.S. military towards Christians and Jews will soon become a recruitment problem in an all volunteer force drawing volunteer members from a population of nearly 79% formally professing Christians. It would appear that if a Chaplain or anyone remotely in authority says anything that a gay , an agnostic, or an atheist takes offense at, the Chaplain will be disciplined. Even giving a homily or sermon at a formal church service for one's own denomination on base can land a Chaplain in hot water.

Now just think about it. In this nation 79% of us are literally enrolled in and pay monthly into a Christian church congregation of one sort or another. How many others are "Nominal Christians" of varying levels of belief, who generally acquiesce and follow Judeo Christian ethical principles , who base their moral judgements upon precepts taught in the ten commandments and the sermon on the mount. How many of us are Jewish, the religion out of which Christianity emerged, which first promulgated the ten commandments, and in which much of the Sermon on the Mount's precepts can be found, if not quite in so condensed and centralized a manner? Thus the overwhelming majority of the nation is not offended by public references to the God of Abraham, Christ, or ethical, moral discussions based on the Judeo / Christian Ethic.

Gays , agnostics, atheists,(unknown percentage of the population)  and Muslims (presently .083% of the population) have complete freedom of religion, they are free to believe whatever they want. But the overwhelming majority of the population share with them Freedom of Speech. Given freedom of speech, freedom FROM religion implied in freedom OF religion can not be interpreted to grant control over public speech to the gays, atheists, agnostics, Muslims or any other group or association of groups that dislike the religions of the majority. Being a non believer doesn't mean that all public discourse in the military or anywhere else in society must meet your standards and be devoid of any expression of common beliefs that don't agree with you. Freedom of speech and religion imply that the public discourse will be rich in expression and not watered down so as to avoid subjecting a dissenting minority to having to hear things they disagree with. Certainly gays, Muslims, atheists, and agnostics  would be well within their rights if  they protested the rest of us prohibiting their pronouncements from being aired on the public air waves or in public forums. In fact their pronouncements are all over the airwaves and public forum. Yet they vigorously deny the majority any freedom of expression that differs from their views.

We have no doubt that the observation that recruitment is falling off due to military suppression of Christianity within the American military cited in the above linked article is true. Indeed we are all military vets and retirees and none of us has suggested a military career to a young person in more than 5 years as this issue has become more and more visible. But there is a danger in Christian and Jewish abandonment of U.S. Military careers. These are the very people who respect the constitution and would defend it with their lives because  indeed it is based on "inalienable rights" in conformance with Judeo/ Christian moral and ethical teachings and credited to the "hand of God". These are not the people who can be easily convinced to fire upon the American people.

Rather than abandoning military service we suggest that it is time for those of us who are not on active duty come to the vigorous defense of Christians and Jews in Uniform. The senior officers who seem compelled to act on every gay, agnostic, atheist or Muslim complaint about speech with Christian or Jewish content may be commissioned by our Muslim, communist President; but they are also formally approved by Congress in what has become far too much of a rubber stamp process. We need Christian and Jewish journalists to keep reporting on these incidence so that we have the names of commanding, flag, and general officers who suppress the religious rights and speech of Christians and Jews. Get involved, oppose their promotions before your congressional representatives.

A tiny minority of people with serious dictatorial tendencies have been pushing the majority around for far too long. Its time to organize and push back while we're still the overwhelming majority.  Anyone who is not willing to explain constitutional rights to whinny minorities who think that freedom of religion makes their non belief the default official government policy isn't fit to command even a platoon in the military of the United States. Anyone who is not willing to uphold the constitutional rights of Christians and Jews t even against a popular superior isn't fit to command our sons and daughters in a military organization. Political correctness is suppression of freedom. Let's not let our military become a weapon that our pathetic and ineffective officeholders can use against the majority of the people . Take an interest and push back now, let your Congressman know how you feel generally and object specifically whenever one of these gutless officers comes up for confirmation for flag or general officer rank. Drive the moral cowards out of the officer corps, not the Christians and Jews out of the U.S. Military service.

Gays, agnostics, atheists, et al may serve in our military but if as individuals any of them  feel they must suppress the majority  we the people need to give them the boot, not more rank and the control of more weapons and people. We can not allow the U.S. military to become desensitized to civilian control of the military and an atmosphere of suppression of majority religious expression does just that. What part of "inalienable" do these flag and general officers responsible for this growing disgrace not understand?
